UCAS Clearing
Will Edinburgh have vacancies available?
The University of Edinburgh will fill its quota of funded places for Home/EU students and consequently will not have any vacancies for 2009 entry.
Non-EU international students classified as “overseas" who meet the entry requirements should contact the relevant College for further information on possible vacancies. There are no international vacancies for Medicine, Oral Health Sciences or Veterinary Medicine.
Why are there vacancies for some students and not others?
Publicly funded universities and colleges are required by the government to limit the number of students they accept that normally reside in the UK or the EU. However, there are no such restrictions placed on applicants living outside of the UK or EU. This means that certain courses in Clearing may therefore only be available to international students.

What is Clearing?
Students who have not secured a place at university but still wish to start in September/October can use the UCAS Clearing system each August/September.
Following the publication of exam results, universities and colleges will advertise any remaining vacancies via UCAS and university websites.
If you are not holding an offer, you can match your examination results against suitable vacancies on higher education courses throughout the UK.
Eligibility
You may be eligible for Clearing if:
- You have not withdrawn your application.
- You hold no offers.
