We welcome applications from students studying for the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Students who are taking the IB are required to obtain the award of the Diploma.
As with other qualifications, you must have an English qualification at the appropriate level.
IB candidates normally require a minimum of Grade 4 at Standard Level (SL) in English (or equivalent), although this may vary depending on the programme applied for.
Where we stipulate passes at SQA Higher in particular subjects we would normally need you to have studied this to the specified grade at Higher Level (HL) in the IB.
Overall scores are for the complete diploma including bonus points for Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Extended Essay (EE).
Entry requirements for each degree programme can be found via the degree finder.
For many degree programmes, we will expect you to have studied specific subjects at Higher Level (HL) within the IB.
You can find information on the ratio of applications, offers and accepted applicants for each of our degree programmes in our admissions statistics.
If you decide to accept an offer of a place from Edinburgh as your Firm or Insurance choice, you should ensure that the University receives your IB results via UCAS when they are released. Your school's IB Diploma programme coordinator will be able to help you do this.
Instructions for IB centres on the release of IB Diploma results to UCAS are available on the IBO website.
