Change to Course Booking Deadlines

We'd like to let you know about an important change we're making to student course booking deadlines...

From September 2017, students will be required to book a place/enrol on a course in advance of the course start date.

Type of Course New Booking Deadline/Bookings will Close:
Non-Credit Courses (incl. LFA)  8 days before course start date
Credit Courses 15 days before course start date

Why are the Centre for Open Learning making these changes?

By closing bookings earlier and finalising class size in advance of the course start date, we will be able to make certain that all necessary arrangements are in place for a course to run, resulting in more certainty for tutors and students alike. Areas affected by accepting late enrolments on a course include (but are not restricted to); the suitability of allocated rooms, the fulfilment of accessibility/support requests and ensuring access to university IT systems for students studying on credit courses.

When will I be able to book 2017/18 courses?

The 2017/18 programme of Short Courses (incl. Languages for All) will be launched and available to book from the beginning of August 2017. We will list our programme for the year and courses across all three terms will be available to book. We will announce this launch on our website, by email and through our social media channels nearer the time.

When will bookings close for a course?

The date at which enrolments close for any course will be dependent on whether it is a credit or non-credit course and on which day the course runs. For instance, a Language course running on a Tuesday will close for bookings/enrolments on the Monday one week prior to the course start date, a Credit Course running on a Thursday will close for bookings/enrolments on the Wednesday two weeks prior to the course start date.

Will I be able to enrol after bookings have closed?

Unfortunately we will be unable to take enrolments for a course beyond the new booking deadlines outlined above.
