Student-led tours
Our student-led campus tours are ideal for students and their families who are unable to attend an Open Day.
George Square campus tour
Who is this tour for?
This tour is designed to give you an overview of the University of Edinburgh from someone who knows it best: one of our current students.
It is suitable for potential undergraduates and postgraduates for all subjects. Family and friends are also welcome.
What does the tour include?
The tour will take you around the George Square campus, sometimes referred to as the central area. You’ll see inside the Main Library, our students’ union buildings and one of our lecture theatres (depending on availability).
The tour doesn't include any visits to schools or departmental buildings, however your guide will point out all the University buildings on the route and explain where subjects are based.
Please note that tours during August will normally be entirely outside, as many of our buildings are used as venues for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
When are the tours?
We run this tour most Mondays and Fridays. Tours take approximately 60 minutes.

Edinburgh College of Art tours
Who is this tour for?
These tours are for prospective undergraduate students interested in Art and Design degrees at Edinburgh College of Art (ECA). Although the tours will focus on our undergraduate degrees and facilities, prospective postgraduates may also find them informative.
What does the tour include?
We offer two tours, one for Art and one for Design. On each tour, your guide will be a current ECA student.
You’ll be given an in-depth look around the studios, practical facilities and study space. There will also be a chance to ask questions about the degree you’d like to study, as well as finding out about life as an ECA student.
When are the tours?
We run these tours on the last Friday of the month, in months where there are no other opportunities to visit the College. Tours take approximately 60 minutes. The Design tour runs immediately after the Art tour. If you are interested in both subjects you can attend both.

At other times of year, our Degree Show, Fashion Show and Open Days are open to the public and offer a fantastic opportunity to view the work created by ECA final year students
Accommodation tours
We do not offer an accompanied tour of our accommodation, however the George Square campus tour will give you an overview of accommodation options in Edinburgh. If you would like to visit our accommodation you can take a self-guided accommodation tour.
