The University offers a number of scholarships to students from various countries. All scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis.

The University of Edinburgh will offer 40 Master's scholarships for postgraduate study in any subject offered by the University for the 2012-2013 academic session.
Students who are national of countries outwith the EU who are accepted for admission on a full-time bases for a postgraduate Master's programme of study at the University of Edinburgh can apply.
The scholarship will be awarded broadly on the basis of academic merit.
50 PhD Scholarships are available to students from any country. These scholarships provide development opportunities which will support our research students as they progress beyond their PhD, by offering a package of career training that allows students to simultaneously develop skills in research, and also in teaching, public engagement or entrepreneurship.
Each scholarship covers the UK/EU rate of tuition fee and pays a stipend of £14,000 per year of study.

Overseas research students of outstanding merit and research potential may apply for a University Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship.
30 scholarships are available for 2012-2013 with each award covering the difference between the home and overseas rate of tuition fee.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office funds a number of Chevening scholarships for postgraduate study, mainly for one-year taught Masters degrees.
Selection is carried out by British Embassies and High Commissions overseas in consultation with the local British Council representative.

The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan provides opportunities for students in one Commonwealth country to pursue advanced academic study at Master's or MPhil/PhD level in another Commonwealth country.
Applications should normally be made to the Commonwealth Scholarship Agency (usually the Ministry of Education) in the applicant's home country.
