The University Libraries

The University’s Library, one of the oldest libraries in Scotland, remains one of the largest and most important academic libraries in the world today.

Students have access to around three million printed volumes within the University’s 21 sites, as well as electronic data through the University network.

Our wide range of electronic resources includes over 160 bibliographic databases and over 4,000 full-text journals.

Main Library redevelopment

A major investment in our Main Library will see it transformed for the 21st century and updated for new generations of students.

The Redevelopment Project will transform the building and improve our facilities one floor at a time. Redevelopment will provide improved course-book collection and study space, helpdesk facilities and a café.

The Library online

The Library website contains comprehensive information about all its services and resources, and serves as a portal to some of the best scholarly information resources on the internet.

Computer Facilities

The University benefits from a large campus computing network, which provides students with state-of-the-art facilities.

We have invested heavily in providing access to computers as well, with 20 free labs situated across the campuses.

The University issues students their own email addresses and provides online access to lecture notes, assessment and course information.

We also conduct a wide range of refresher courses, from beginners’ computing to programming, for those in need of an IT refresher.
