Our group brings together the wives/partners and children of postgraduate students and post-doctoral workers.
We also welcome female post-graduate students, post doctoral workers and their families.
The group contains members of many different nationalities including Japan, China, Turkey, Iran, Europe, South America, Russia and Serbia
The group runs regular coffee mornings during semester time. This is an informal meeting place where you can come each week for a chat, to have refreshments and make new friends.
Throughout the academic year the group meets once a week.
We arrange some activities and events devoted to international culture and friendship, like going to museums or putting on a lunch, or an art and crafts presentation as well as offering English language classes.
We offer basic English lessons by qualified teachers, each of whom will teach a small group according to your previous experience of English. Classes cost just £1.
During class time your children can be left in our small crèche. There are several volunteers who look after the children, play with them and read to them.
An English class in progress
We also provide information about living in Edinburgh, such as transport, doctors, shops etc for newcomers.
The Club has a small selection of baby equipment: highchairs, travel cots, buggies etc available to borrow.
Our programme covers dates for the English classes in spring 2012, and an overview of events and activities in spring and summer 2012.
