About the programme
IEAP combines specially tailored English tuition with a postgraduate taught masters degree, in one programme.
The programme is aimed at international applicants:
- with an IELTS or TOEFL score that is slightly below the required level for the postgraduate masters course they have applied for
- who wish to get extra support in preparing their English language skills for postgraduate study.

The advantage of IEAP is that it allows international applicants to apply for one student visa covering the pre-sessional English language courses and a chosen postgraduate masters programme.
Availability
The pre-sessional English courses can be combined with most postgraduate taught masters programmes offered by the College of Humanities & Social Science and any taught masters programme offered by the College of Science & Engineering.
The pre-sessional English courses can also be combined with selected postgraduate taught masters programmes in the College of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine.
Please be aware that places on IEAP are limited.
About the language tuition
The pre-sessional English courses are offered by the University's English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC).
They have been specifically designed to prepare new international students for postgraduate study.
The courses include modules on academic writing, listening to lectures and academic speaking.
