The International Office representative for Malaysia is Jenny Thacker.
Jenny visits Malaysia several times a year to attend exhibitions, to give presentations and to meet with potential students.
There are currently 204 students from Malaysia.
Most are undergraduates but there has been a significant rise in postgraduate research students over the last couple of years. The most popular subject areas for undergraduates include Biological Sciences, Engineering, Medicine and Business.
At postgraduate level the subject interest is similar to the above but there are a number of postgraduate researchers at the highly-rated School of Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies.
The first students from Malaysia came to study Medicine at the University of Edinburgh in the 1940’s.
There are now around 500 University of Edinburgh alumni residing in Malaysia. Many have continued on in academia and are now lecturers at universities in Malaysia. Some are managers for a diverse range of enterprises.
Others are professionals such engineers and doctors.
