General information
Credit for Entry gives you the opportunity to study for entry to a degree programme on days and times that suit you.
Who is Credit for Entry for?
Credit for Entry could be for you if you:
- have had a break of three years from formal full-time education
- have some experience of recent study and/or read widely
- are confident about your study abilities and feel ready to tackle university-level work
- are fairly confident with study skills but might need help in certain areas
- are quite confident about academic writing but might need some help
- are confident about studying independently on different Open Studies courses
Where does it lead?
Many students have successfully entered the University of Edinburgh and universities elsewhere through the Credit for Entry route.
We can advise you on your university application and on degree choices.
Many degree courses have very high numbers of applications, and we recommend that you check the guidance for mature entrants produced by undergraduate admissions.
Where does it take place?
We base our teaching out of the Office of Lifelong Learning at Paterson's Land in the University's Holyrood campus.
Open Studies credit courses are available during days and evenings, and start in September, January and April.
Individual courses mostly last for 10 weeks, with attendance of two or three hours per week.
