The Registers of Scotland 400 Year Anniversary Scholarship

One scholarship of £11,500 available to UK and EU nationals for MSc High Performance Computing with Data Science.

Award

The scholarship will cover the full UK/EU tuition fee of £10,800 which will be automatically deducted from the successful applicant's tuition fee.

There will be further funds of £700 available to cover the cost of expenses incurred by the successful applicant in their dissertation project and in any travel or publicity costs required as part of the scholarship and dissertation project.

Eligibility

One scholarship is available to UK and EU nationals, resident in the UK or EU.  Applicants must have applied for the specified full-time Masters degree programme (High Performance Computing with Data Science) beginning in the 2017-2018 academic session.  

Criteria

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of interest in Data Science, enthusiasm for participating in an industry project with Registers of Scotland (as part of the MSc dissertation component) and academic merit.

Candidates must have, or expect to obtain the international equivalent of a UK first class or 2:1 Honours degree at undergraduate level.

Conditions

The successful applicant will be required to choose a dissertation project offered by Registers of Scotland for the Dissertation component of the MSc in High Performance Computing with Data Science.

The successful applicant will be expected to make regular contributions to publicity activities around the scholarship, e.g. by the production of regular blog posts.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an informal interview (via telephone/video message) to discuss their passions within the Data domain during a range of times between the afternoon of Wednesday 09 August and the evening of Friday 11 August.

Notification

Candidates will be notified if they have been shortlisted by 10am on Wednesday 09 August.

The successful candidate will be notified on Monday 14 August.
