Edinburgh Santander Masters Scholarships

Sixteen Edinburgh Santander Scholarships are available to students from eligible countries for postgraduate Masters study in any subject offered by the University for the 2016-2017 academic session.

The University of Edinburgh is proud to be part of the the Santander Network of Universities and grateful to Santander for the provision of these scholarships which were established in July 2009.

Each scholarship will have a value of £5,000 which will be tenable for one academic year.


The scholarships will be awarded to students who are accepted for admission on a full-time basis for a postgraduate Masters programme of study at the University of Edinburgh

Applicants may apply from the following countries:

  • Argentina
  • Brazil
  • Chile
  • China
  • Colombia
  • Hong Kong
  • Mexico
  • Peru
  • Portugal
  • Puerto Rico
  • Russia
  • Spain
  • Taiwan
  • United Kingdom
  • Uruguay
  • USA
  • Venezuela

Applicants should already have been offered a place at the University of Edinburgh and should have firmly accepted that offer or be intending to do so.


The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit. Candidates must have, or expect to obtain the international equivalent of a UK first class or 2:1 Honours degree at undergraduate level.


This award is now closed. We are no longer accepting applications for the 2016-2017 academic session.

Selection Procedure

A Selection Committee will meet in June 2016 to select the scholarship holders. All applicants will be notified of the outcome in early July 2016.
