Police registration

After arriving in Edinburgh, some international students may need to register with the police.

If you need to register, this requirement will be written in your passport.

You normally need to register within seven days of your arrival in the United Kingdom.

To register you must visit the Police Headquarters.

What do I need to bring?

To register, you will need:

your passport
the registration fee - £34 (cash only)
one passport-size photograph of yourself
a print-out of your unconditional offer of study at the University of Edinburgh (this can be found in your My Ed email inbox)
proof of your address in Edinburgh (e.g. University accommodation contract in My Ed / other accommodation contract / a utility bill / a bank statement etc.)

Opening times are Monday-Friday 9am-12.30pm.
