Information on the University's two childcare facilities and support that may be available, plus advice on private childcare.

The University's Day Nursery is on Dalkeith Road, close to Pollock Halls of Residence. It provides care for children between 6 weeks and 5 years old. Prices per week vary depending on the age of the child, the number of days and the length of stay. If you or your partner works you may be entitled to a Childcare Voucher from your employer that would contribute towards the cost of childcare.
In addition there are ten day nursery bursaries available from the University to full-time undergraduates. Each bursary is tenable for one academic year, and the maximum value of each may be £5000. Further details, including how to apply, can be found on the Scholarships and Student Funding Services website.
The University's second nursery is located in the Psychology department. It caters for children aged between 2.5 and 5 years and is open to students, staff and the general public. Weekly fees vary, but are subsidised by the City of Edinburgh Council for children aged between 3 and 4 years.
Further information on fees, activities and contact details can be found on the Uni-tots website.
Outside the University there are a number of private childcare providers, nurseries, creches and playgroups. They can charge a wide range of fees depending on the age of the child and the number of hours the service is used for. For more information on local childcare providers please see the Scottish Government's website.
