While many of our graduates enter and remain within the veterinary profession for life many others find that their training at Edinburgh enables them to succeed in a wide range of careers in research, government, private enterprise and academia.
Dr Gunn graduated R(D)SVS in 1967, currently CEO Novartis Consumer Health Division. He was awarded an honorary doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from the University of Edinburgh in 2008.

Dr Moore graduated from R(D)SVS in 1967, worked as a senior partner at Kingfisher Veterinary Practice, Somerset, UK and Junior Vice-President of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Dr Moore was awarded an honorary doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from the University of Edinburgh in 2007.
Prof Gunn-Moore graduated from R(D)SVS in 1991. She is currently Professor of Feline Medicine with us - one of two such appointments in the UK.

Lord Soulsby graduated from R(D)SVS in 1948, has held a number of senior academic positions in several UK universities. He was President of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons from 1984-1985.

After graduating from R(D)SVS, Peter Beaumont has variously owned, operated and developed a wide range of businesses in many sectors. In Britain, he was a partner in Veterinary Business Development Ltd, the publisher of VetTimes and Veterinary Business Journal, as well as the co-founder of Veterinary Practice Initiatives Ltd.
Tim Bailey graduated from R(D)SVS in 1996. He started work with food certification company SFQC in 2002, becoming Agriculture Director in 2006 and Chief Executive in April 2008.
Kimberly graduated from R(D)SVS in 2007, received BS from Texas A&M University in 2002. She's currently working in mixed animal practice in North Carolina, USA.
Chris Palgrave graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies (R(D)SVS) in 2007 where he completed both a PhD and the BVM&S degree. He spent a year working in mixed practice in the USA before attending the veterinary anatomic pathology residency training programme at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, USA. He returned to the UK as a Lecturer in Veterinary Pathology at the R(D)SVS before moving to the School of Veterinary Sciences at the University of Bristol in 2012.
Brian Perry graduated from the R(D)SVS in 1969. He is an international consultant specialising in livestock health and broader agricultural development issues in countries in the developing world.
The Dick Vet provided an outstanding veterinary education and training and it continues to do so. It has a very bright future ahead. The Dick also provided a superb collegiate atmosphere which has lasted a life time.
