The Jeanne Marchig International Centre for Animal Welfare Education

Aims

The JMICAWE aim is to improve the quality of life for all animals through education, research, training and by influencing policy at the highest level.

Considering what animals want for a good life is vital to ensuring good welfare for animals and the people who depend upon them. Education in animal welfare should be informed by scientific evidence and forms a fundamental part of the education of veterinarians and others who make decision which affect animal lives.

The JMICAWE will actively seek to make determined progress towards a situation where enhancement of animal welfare is an international priority and where the boundaries of what is currently legally acceptable will be constantly challenged for the benefit of animals. We hope to achieve far-reaching changes in people’s attitudes and knowledge through instruction and training at all levels.
