Scholarships and Bursaries

We are deeply committed to encouraging the best students to follow their career of choice irrespective of their ability to pay for their education.

Scholarships are important not only to the students who are fortunate enough to receive one, but also to the University, commerce, industry and to communities around the world.

The scholarships and bursaries programmes are funded through the generous donations of individuals through legacies or donations to the Veterinary Student Bursary Fund, and from companies and trusts.

Support for this fund will enable us to provide financial support to students thus allowing them to become tomorrow’s vets

"The Edinburgh University access bursary has been of invaluable help to me in my first two years at vet school. Without it I am not sure I would have been able to continue on at university.

"The Government loan and bursary scheme does not take into account personal circumstances or outgoings on your parents behalf when they assess your loan amount. This is why I came into hardship as on paper my Dad earns more than a certain amount.

"However SAAS did not take into account the fact that my Dad was facing redundancy in the following year. My Mum also did not have a job as my Gran was diagnosed with cancer and she gave up her job to care for her.

"It has always been my dream to be a vet and through studying for my highers and advanced highers and achieving my goal of getting into vet school, the thought of not being able to go due to financial difficulty was inconceivable.”

"I first found out about the International Undergraduate Scholarship from the Scholarships and Student Finance Office website - I felt applying for the scholarship would help alleviate the financial pressure and allow me to concentrate on my studies.
