Undergraduate

Postgraduate
Surgical career paths: In addition to foundation and specialty training, there are opportunities to undertake a period of clinical academic research.
Foundation programme: Two Foundation years prepare you for speciality training in surgery.
Specialty training: Training in these highly competitive posts includes a Surgical Teaching Programme.
Postgraduate distance learning: Surgical trainees can gain additional qualifications with our MSc programmes in Surgical Sciences.
PhD research: We offer an exciting and diverse range of laboratory-based and clinical research training projects.
MD research: Opportunities are available for research toward the degree of MD.
Observerships
We accept individual surgeons from the UK and abroad to visit Clinical Surgery to gain surgical experience in the role of an observer.
Potential applicants should note that many applications are received and it is only possible to accommodate a small proportion of these. It should also be appreciated that "hands-on" experience is not possible within such a short-term observership and there should not be an expectation that scrubbing and assisting in operating theatres is possible.
