The University will award scholarships funded by The Lloyd’s Register Educational Trust (The LRET) beginning in September 2010 to first class students who plan to study on the School of Engineering’s Erasmus Mundus International Masters in Fire Safety Engineering (IMFSE) degree.
The value of the award will be full international fees, plus a living and mobility stipend of €16,000 and an additional stipend of £3,000 per academic year. The LRET International MSc Scholarship is tenable for two years, subject to meeting the terms of the award.
The scholarship may be terminated at any time should the conditions of the award be violated or if the scholarship holder ceases to be registered as a full-time student at the University.
The sole criterion for the scholarships is academic excellence; successful applicants are likely to hold or expect to achieve an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK first class Honours undergraduate degree. Students are evaluated on the basis of their IMFSE application package; short-listed candidates will additionally be interviewed.
The short list is formed on the basis of prospective IMFSE students’ application packages, and short-listed candidates are automatically invited to attend an interview.
The selection panel will meet in early March 2011 to generate the scholarship short list. The winner of the scholarship will be announced in late September 2011.
