From the Director of Scholarships and Student Funding
The University of Edinburgh's school code is G06839.
If you intend to study at the University of Edinburgh in the 2013-2014 academic session and you wish to take out a loan, you should complete the following steps:
1) Submit a FAFSA
Students wishing to apply for financial aid are required to complete a FAFSA. This can be completed on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov
2) E-sign Your Federal Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN)
Students taking out a federal Direct loan outside the US are required to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) annually before the loan funds can be disbursed. Follow the four-step process listed on the studentloans.gov Web site to sign your MPN.
3) Loan Entrance Counselling
The U.S. Department of Education requires first-time borrowers of the federal Direct loan to complete a loan entrance counselling session before the loan funds can be disbursed. You can complete this online on the studentloans.gov web site at https://studentloans.gov/
Please note due to system developments being made by the US Department of Education we will not be able to originate any loans for the 2013-2014 session prior to 1 July 2013. Financial Aid staff will give initial priority to students studying Veterinary Medicine whose programme of study starts in August.
If you have any queries please feel free to contact our Financial Aid staff within Scholarships and Student Funding Services (financial.aid@ed.ac.uk).
