Natural Environment Research Council
The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) offers research awards in a number of subject areas.
- the solid earth, its physical properties and mineral resources
- inland waters and their living resources
- terrestrial communities, their resources and amenities
- the seas and their living resources
- the atmosphere
Awarded programmes and areas
In 2010-2011, quota awards were awarded for the following University of Edinburgh Master's programmes:
Master's programmes
- MSc Biodiversity and Taxonomy of Plants
- MSc Quantitative Genetics & Genome Analysis
- MSc Integrated Resource Management
PhD research areas
PhD studentships were awarded in the following research areas:
Eligibility
Prospective students should normally have at least an upper second-class Honours degree to be considered for a PhD studentship, and a second-class Honours degree for an MSc studentship.
Applying
Candidates should not apply directly to NERC but rather should indicate that they wish to be considered for a studentship on their postgraduate application form.
