Natural Environment Research Council

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) offers research awards in a number of subject areas.

  • the solid earth, its physical properties and mineral resources
  • inland waters and their living resources
  • terrestrial communities, their resources and amenities
  • the seas and their living resources
  • the atmosphere

Eligibility

Prospective students should normally have at least an upper second-class Honours degree to be considered for a PhD studentship, and a second-class Honours degree for an MSc studentship.

Applying

Candidates should not apply directly to NERC but rather should indicate that they wish to be considered for a studentship on their postgraduate application form.
