Making an appointment
Prior to arranging an initial appointment we ask you to complete our Registration Form and a brief questionnaire.
The quickest way to obtain our forms is to email us at student.counselling@ed.ac.uk and we will send them out to you the same day (or the next working day if you email us after 4pm or at weekends). To comply with our data protection and confidentiality code of practice will always email the forms to your student email account.
If you prefer, you can telephone us or call in person at our offices in the Main Library (3rd Floor) (0131 650 4170) or Paterson's Land (0131 651 6200).
Once you have returned your forms to us, we aim to contact you with an initial appointment time within two working weeks. If we have your mobile number and availability we may be able to offer you a cancellation appointment sooner.
Being flexible about the times you can offer can help you to be seen more quickly.
If you have not heard from us within the time limit please get back in touch with us.
If you feel your problem is urgent, you may need to go to your own doctor (GP) or the University Health Service.
