Living life to the full is a cognitive behavioural course which we have successfully run three times at Edinburgh University and for which we have received very positive feedback from students.
The course is run over seven Wednesday afternoons and provides a framework to tackle problems associated with low mood and mild to moderate depression as well as anxiety, stress and unhelpful thinking styles.
The aim is to help you manage your lower mood and depression differently, to develop your confidence and self esteem and to have a more balanced and enjoyable approach to your life.
The course involves input by the course leaders (both from the Student Counselling Service) and work will be undertaken individually as well as in pairs and the larger group. The course is supported by regular accessible course material. We aim to create a relaxed and safe environment where you not be expected to share more than you feel comfortable with. Everything that is discussed is strictly confidential.
Once your place on the course has been confirmed you will be expected to commit to attending all the sessions, unless in exceptional circumstances. This is because each week builds on the previous one and it allows a positive and supportive group ethos to develop.
If you have any queries or would like to discuss this further please email student.counselling@ed.ac.uk.
