Groups and workshops

The Student Counselling Service runs up to six workshops and two Groups during the academic year.

We provide a different, but very beneficial experience for students, from one to one counselling. It is not ‘Group Therapy’ but a combination of input ,discussion and awareness raising, facilitated by the group leaders.

The topics we cover include procrastination, depression and confidence building. The approach we use can allow you to reach a better understanding of how an issue affects you and ways to manage it differently.

Discussions may be in small groups, pairs or the larger group. You may see that other students are dealing with similar issues to you. The purpose is to give you knowledge and understanding that you may not have had before, suggest new strategies and to take away the sense of isolation or apartness that many students can feel when dealing with a problem on their own.

You will not be expected to share more than you feel comfortable doing and everything that is discussed in the group or workshop is strictly confidential
