Two of Scotland’s most historic Universities will take an age old rivalry to the London Scottish RFC Ground in Richmond, this St Andrew’s Day, when they meet for the historic Scottish Varsity game.
This unique fixture between the Universities of St Andrews and Edinburgh, which first started more than 150 years ago predates the annual Oxford vs. Cambridge Varsity, and will see the top men’s rugby sides extend their age-old rivalry .
London Scottish will again host the fixture, and there is every expectation that the event will live up to last year’s classic encounter, which saw the University of Edinburgh take the honours.
This is the oldest varsity rugby fixture in the world. Our historians have told us we pre-date the Oxford v Cambridge match that was first played in 1872. This is an opportunity for us both to showcase Scottish university rugby on a wider scale but also to make links to our alumni and give them the chance to support their former universities.

All alumni, supporters, friends and family are welcome to attend the game, which will take place at the Richmond Athletic Ground of London Scottish rugby club.
It promises to be a great night out with numerous rugby celebrities in attendance backing their respective University camps. Adding to the occasion this year will be post match entertainment involving a live Scottish Band and a late licence bar for revellers to celebrate St Andrew’s Day with the teams after the game.
Admission for the contest is priced at £10 per ticket which includes post match entertainment until 2am.
With both universities having many alumni in south-east England, a large crowd is anticipated.
Those wishing to attend can turn up on the night, or purchase tickets from London Scottish.
