Applications are now invited from talented student athletes to join the University’s flagship Individual Sports Performance Programme (ISPP) for 2011-12.

Run jointly by the University’s Centre for Sport and Exercise and Edinburgh University Sports Union (EUSU), and delivered alongside the companion Team Sport Performance Programme (TSPP), the ISPP gives essential fitness, financial, medical and advisory support for student athletes committed to succeeding on the international sporting stage.

Lisa McKenzie
3rd year Physics student and Commonwealth Championship Silver medallist
The ISPP is offered on a one year renewable basis. It is open to any University student who is competing at junior international standard or better. An involvement in University of Edinburgh Sport is expected from ISPP recipients.
Our student-centred ISPP exploits the University’s top class training and competition facilities, pioneering sports conditioning and sports medicine expertise, commitment to performance sport development and close links to Scotland’s elite sport network. The 2011-12 ISPP includes:
If you are performing to a national sporting level, and prepared to engage in UoE Sport, then we’d love to hear from you. See below for the 2011-12 ISPP application process.
The expertise available is second to none, and its great to be part of a hardworking and inspirational team. Every aspect of living as a student athlete is covered
Craig Dale
5th year Medicine student; European Age Group Champion 2010 and World Duathlon Age Group Silver Medallist
In addition to the ISPP, we also manage a corresponding Team Sport Performance Programme (TSPP) to assist University’s leading sports clubs, including swimming, hockey, rowing, football, orienteering, fencing, archery and ladies' rugby.
In most cases, our TSPP is headed by dedicated performance coaches, with specialist conditioning, medical and advisory back-up. This is designed to allow University of Edinburgh teams to complete at the highest level in national leagues, as well as British Universities and Scottish Universities championships.
Applications for the ISPP are now available (formerly referred to as a sports bursary). Please complete and submit the on-line application form by the closing date of Friday 22 April 2011.
Applicants are then short-listed for interview (early May) and final selections confirmed by mid-May. The ISPP proper begins in September with a comprehensive induction.
For more information and/or follow-up questions please contact ISPP coordinator, Laura Hayward.
Alternatively we’d be delighted to arrange to meet with you and show you round the University’s sporting facilities and arrange the chance for you to speak with some of our current student sports stars and support staff.
