A list of specific responsibilities for planning the inaugural lecture.
This should be done preferably not less than five months before the lecture.
Contact the Head of College's Secretary (50 5754) to arrange a date suitable for both the Head of College and the Principal. This should normally be within the first twelve months of the start of the Professor's appointment.
The School should contact the Room Booking Unit (51 4179) to book the proposed venue. The majority have been presented in the Main Lecture Theatre, Michael Swann Building.
Ensure that technical support is booked for the duration of the lecture, particularly if demonstrations are to be used.

A reception is held after the inaugural lecture to which the family of the newly inaugurated Professor and other guests are invited. A private supper or dinner can also be organised for invited guests only.

Liaise with Communications and Marketing in order to coordinate publicity for the lecture. They will also advise on photo opportunities and media interest.
This should be done not less than four months before the lecture.
Organise the printing of invitations.
This should be done at least three months before the lecture for industry. It can be later for other invites.

Send the Head of College a short biography or CV of the lecturer, including a photograph, or the address of a website containing a photograph.
