Role profile, selection criteria and appointment procedure.
The Head of School is responsible for the academic leadership and management of the School, which is the basic operational academic unit of the University and one of the three levels of strategic management overall.
A list of the essential and desirable criteria for candidates.
The University has created set of principles which must be observed in the appointment of Heads of Schools.
Observation of these will be mandatory and must be capable of being demonstrated, but the procedure adopted can still be flexible in style and approach to suit the School concerned.
These principles include the requirement that information about the Headship and the appointment procedure must be made available to all staff.
All members of the academic staff in the School must be provided with the opportunity to express an interest in being appointed to the position.
