Interview (postgraduate) *INCLUDE FULL*
Postgraduate students are given two interviews with their PGT Director.
Freshers week
Programme Directors interview all postgraduates the week before classes begin.
The aims of this interview are:
- to establish initial contact and understanding of the roles and expectations of both the student and the Programme Director
- to ensure that the student will be fully matriculated by the end of the first week of teaching
- to select course options (if applicable)
- to discuss any specific managed adjustment needed, and review any existing managed adjustments
- to discuss future career plans
Mid- year interviews
Programme Directors must see all students when the results from the first semester examinations/ assessments are available.
The aims of this interview are:
- to find out if the student is settling in
- to discuss performance to date and to consider withdrawal where performance is weak
- to identify any skills gaps - like study skills - that are impacting on performance
- to identify any special circumstances that may need resolution, such as referral to support service
- to establish if any managed adjustments are in place and are working well
If the student is recommended to withdraw from the programme, a partial refund of tuition fees can be made up to 31st January. Timing of withdrawal is therefore critical.
All students must attend meetings with the PGT Director. Failure to do so will be followed up under the College’s non-attendance monitoring procedures
