We recognise that some highly talented trainees will not yet have gained experience that equips them to work up an ambitious project in a high quality scientific laboratory.
We therefore include the option of appointing up to four such trainees to four-year MRF/MRC Fellowships.
During the first year, these appointees will undertake a full-time MSc course, including a research mini-project experience with potential supervisors.
This 'mixed economy' model has been successful within the ECAT and STMTI programmes.
