Lecture from Professor Elizabeth Kuipers on 16 November 2011.
Professor Kuipers' research interests have included the development and evaluation of family intervention in schizophrenia, particularly understanding issues for carers; and more recently in developing a cognitive model for psychosis. She also chaired the last NICE Schizophrenia Guideline update and is also chairing the current guideline update.
In this lecture she discusses the role carers can play in a person’s recovery from mental illness and how mental health professionals can support carers as they do this.
Professor Elizabeth Kuipers, Head of the Department of Psychology, Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London.
