New Investment for Fios Genomics

Fios Genomics Limited, a spin-out from the University of Edinburgh, has succeeded in completing an investment round of £500k, from a syndicate led by Archangel Informal Investments, which will allow expansion of its service capacity to meet the increasing demand from customers and to deliver industrial scale projects by strengthening the team and building new capabilities. The company has made two senior appointments, Dr Bill Buckie joins as CEO and Dr Sandy Primrose as non-executive chairman.

Fios Genomics was spun out in 2008 by Peter Ghazal, Tom Freeman, Thorsten Forster from the Division of Pathway Medicine and Anton Enright from the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and has been steadily generating revenues since that time. It's customers are from major pharma and biotech companies to academic, clinical and CRO's in UK, US, EU and Asia

July 2011: New European Diagnostic Clusters Alliance to be launched

The new European Diagnostic Clusters Alliance will be launched at the Euromediag International Convention in Montpellier on 7th July.

Dr Till Bachmann, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Biochip Research at the Division of Pathway Medicine, University of Edinburgh, is a founding member of the EDC Alliance.

The new alliance will strengthen networking at a European level to drive innovations in in-vitro diagnostics.
