College support for commercialisation of its research is under the umbrella of Edinburgh BioQuarter.
Edinburgh BioQuarter is a partnership between the University of Edinburgh (College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine), NHS Lothian and Scottish Enterprise. We aim to foster deeper links with industry through collaborative research, creating new companies and encouraging a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship based on Edinburgh's research excellence.
The concept brings together academic scientists, clinicians and other health professionals with companies to collaborate and accelerate the development of new drugs, diagnostic tools and medical devices to diagnose and treat diseases.
The BioQuarter team is comprised of scientists and business people with decades of commercial experience.
We translate medical innovation into better health outcomes for patients in key areas including regenerative medicine, inflammation and oncology. We work with medical researchers, investors and the pharma industry to deliver new drugs, diagnostic tools and medical devices to the global healthcare market. And above all, we bridge the gap between the lab bench and bedside, accelerating the process that turns new medical discoveries into health benefits.
