Research excellence

The University is one of the oldest centres for medical and veterinary medical research in the UK.

It is also one of the most dynamic and progressive, with new £300m, state of the art facilities across the College.

In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercises (RAE) , nearly 70% of our researchers were rated at the internationally excellent level or above.

Institutes and centres

Our interdisciplinary groups, centres and institutes bring together basic and clinical academic staff in broad, thematic research concentrations encompassing basic sciences, translational and clinical research.

Funding

The College has average research income in excess of £100 million per annum.
