St Andrew Square Edinburgh (Edinburgh Inspiring Capital - www.edinburgh-inspiringcapital.com)

The Department has students from all over Scotland, the UK and the world, so you will find yourself among a diverse group of people who all share your interest in literature.

Our four-year MA Honours curriculum will allow you to study a number of different subjects in your first two years, before specialising in literature in English during your third and fourth years. It is structured to ensure that you have the opportunity to explore literature from all periods, and from all over the English-speaking world, while also ensuring that you get the chance to follow your own interests in specialist courses. We offer an exceptional range of classes in third and fourth years - feel free to browse our pages for current students to get a sense of what you might be able to take.

The city of Edinburgh

The city of Edinburgh is beautiful, cosmopolitan and safe, as you’d expect of one of Europe’s finest capitals and a top destination for visitors. It’s also a remarkably compact city, which means nearly everything is near at hand or easily accessible.

It has an exceptional array of libraries, galleries, concert halls, theatres, museums and cinemas - as well as plenty of restaurants, cafes, bars and clubs. And there are 90 literature-related public events happening each month, all year, as well as the annual International Book Festival.
