Here are details of the Carlyle Conference scheduled for July 2012.
Carlyle Conference 2012
The 2012 conference will celebrate the publication of 40 volumes of the Duke-Edinburgh edition of 'The Collected Letters of Thomas and Jane Welsh Carlyle'. Durham, North Carolina: Duke University Press, 2012 (volume 40 forthcoming November).
It will also be part of the 2012 programme for the 250th anniversary of the founding of the first Regius Chair in literature in Britain (Hugh Blair, professor of Rhetoric and Belles Lettres, Edinburgh, 1762), being held by the English Literature department, School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures, University of Edinburgh.
The Conference will take place in 19-21 George Square, Edinburgh. The premises will be open from 12 noon, Tuesday, 10th July. The Conference begins at 1pm (13.00). It will close by 6pm (18.00), Thursday, 12th July.
