How to apply
Apply online through our degree finder.
Should you wish to apply for entry to our programme in September 2013, please be advised that you should aim to submit your application by 30 June, 2013.
You will need to complete an online application including the following attachments:
- your degree transcripts
- two letters of reference
- a sample of your creative writing, in a single file (uploaded as an ‘unspecified document’)
- a personal statement outlining your writing interests
Creative writing sample
Your writing sample depends on which strand you are applying for.
Poetry
To apply for Poetry, you will need to send around 10 poems (between 200 and 400 lines in total).
Fiction
To apply for Fiction, you will need to send either two or three short stories, or an equivalent amount from a novel (between 3,000 and 5,000 words in total).
Forms other than prose fiction or poetry (for example, journalism, non-fiction writing or advertising) will not be considered a valid sample.
If you are undecided about whether to apply for fiction or poetry, you should send a sample for both.
