The Research Unit for the Study of Russian in Context (RiC) is an internationally recognised hub of research activity in the field of Russian language in society, including exploration of the social, ideological, cultural, discursive, technological and other contexts.
The convenor of the unit is Dr Lara Ryazanova-Clarke.
The main dimensions of its work are:
Participant in the international research project “The Landslide of the Norm: Linguistic liberalization and literary development in Russia in the 1920s and 1990s”, funded by the Arts Funding Council of Norway. (2004-2008)
Participant in the international research project "The Future of Russian: Language Culture in the Era of New Technology", funded by the Research Council of Norway (2008-2012).
Participant in the CRCEES Consortium (The Centre for Russian, Central and East European Studies, based at the university of Glasgow), leading the CRCEES priority theme "Politics of the Russian Language".
Cooperates with the University’s Language in Context Research Group (Linguistics and English Language)
