Italian Government Lettore
Dr. Silvio Maggi holds a Laurea in Lingue e Letterature Straniere from Rome University and a doctorate in English Linguistics from Helsinki University. He has recently completed (July 2012) a European Doctorate from Barcelona University in Methodology of Foreign Language Teaching and data collection instruments in foreign language teaching.
He has taught Italian language and culture in cultural institutions and universities in different countries – among them France, Finland, Peru, Bolivia, Australia, Spain and currently Great Britain. He has been Lettore ministeriale di ruolo for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1999 and holds qualifications to teach English, Spanish and Italian at college level both in Italy and Spain.
His research interests include General Linguistics, Pragmatics, Methodology of data collection in foreign language teaching, qualitative analysis between languages (i.e. Italian-Spanish, Italian-English) and teaching English as a foreign language. He knows several European languages, including Finnish and Russian.
He has coordinated courses for local teachers of Italian in Peru, Bolivia, Australia and Spain.
