The department of Celtic and Scottish Studies is now in the fourth year of its Traditional Artist in Residence Scheme.
The Traditional Artists contribute an important dimension to our departmental activities, through working with material in the School of Scottish Studies Archives, collecting material for the Archives, contributing seminars in their areas of expertise, and acting as a resource for staff and students in the department as well as for those from elsewhere in the University of Edinburgh.
So far we have been delighted to have had Allan MacDonald (pipes), Patsy Seddon (clarsach), Margaret Callan (Gaelic song), and Adam McNaughtan (Scots song) based with us.
Our current Traditional Artist in Residence is Jean Redpath.
