Sanskrit is the fascinating language of ancient and medieval Indian religion, literature, philosophy and science. As one of the world’s oldest languages, Sanskrit is of great importance for comparative linguistics and the study of religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism.
It is part of the great Indo-European family of languages to which almost all the languages of Europe also belong. Nowadays, both the creative literature and the Indian achievement in philosophy, linguistics and literary criticism are recognised as being of outstanding interest.
