Costs

No tuition fees are paid to the host university. However, participants will usually be responsible for all other costs (including travel, accommodation, insurance and personal expenses) themselves.

Paying fees to Edinburgh

As you will still be a matriculated student, you still need to pay tuition fees to Edinburgh while abroad.

Check Registry's webpages to find out how much this will be, as there may be a reduction.

Costs at the host university

Costs can vary considerably from institution to institution. You can anticipate extra costs at most exchange destinations but those in the USA are generally more expensive.

Approximate costs for most of our exchange universities are listed in the notes of guidance.

Loans and grants

Students who are currently in receipt of a loan or grant should apply to their awarding body in the normal way, indicating they will be studying abroad.

If your time away is a mandatory part of your Edinburgh degree programme, you may be entitled to extra funding. You should ask your funding body about this.
