Tom Gillingwater and colleagues have successfully launched a new management consultancy as a spinout from the University of Edinburgh: NeuroORG Business Consulting Ltd.
NeuroORG is a new kind of management consultancy based on interdisciplinary neuroanatomical and organizational research, developed out of a body of literature showing that organizations function much like living organisms.
As a result, the demands, constraints and expectations placed upon the brain are very similar to contemporary issues faced by management in a company. The NeuroORG approach asks “how would the brain deal with this problem?”, when faced with a management challenge.
By undertaking comparisons with the brain, NeuroORG generates recommendations for change consistent with those characteristics associated with “high-performing” organizations.
