Postgraduate Essentials
'Postgraduate Essentials' is an interactive on-line orientation course for new doctoral researchers.
You can network with other students whilst gaining the practical information and skills necessary to make the best possible start to your PhD.
The course runs in the University’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Learn and is made up of 6 time released modules and a variety of discussion forums. The 6 modules are live for 1 - 2 weeks each, covering the following topics:
- starting your PhD
- getting organised
- working with your supervisor
- searching the literature
- writing a literature review
- the first year review
The on-line course will be fully accessible, both on and off campus, and is bookable through the university’s online booking system.
