Advanced courses for more experienced tutors and demonstrators.
| Description | This course is intended for more experienced Teaching Assistants (tutors and demonstrators) who are embarking on lecturing for the first time. It considers what is involved in planning a lecture, and discusses strategies for engaging the students’ attention. Participants are offered the course ‘Lecture Practice’ by way of follow-up in the following week. Lecture Practice is a peer observation exercise (participants deliver a 20-min lecture to their colleagues that they prepare in advance) which is run in three groups of 5. It is therefore only available to 15 participants maximum. This course is for you if are about to get involved in preparing an occasional lecture for the first time, or if you are still relatively new to lecturing and intend to review your lecturing practice. If lecturing is not yet an immediate concern for you this semester, please do not sign up for this course yet. |
