SAS is an integrated system of statistical software products which provide powerful tools to analyze, manage, view, and even present complex data in a variety of formats, ranging from simple lists and tables to multi-dimensional plots and high-resolution graphics. It has procedures for data entry, high-res graphics, matrix manipulations, a macro language, and much more.
The menu system makes it easy for the novice to get started with simple analyses but for the full power of the system you need to learn the SAS programming language. It gives you access to extensive data manipulation, as well as more advanced features.
SAS contains instructional information on it within its Help menu. The SAS web site contains extensive tutorials and manual pages on line.
There are numerous online resources available for learning about SAS. Please be aware that some of them may refer to older versions of SAS.
Full details on purchasing SAS, either under the University's site license or direct from the manufacturer, can be found in the following Software Services section of the University website:
SAS is only considered partially-supported at the University. Please contact IS help services with any queries you have and they will be passed on to the most appropriate team.
The most extensive level of support for SAS would be through the manufacturer's own knowledgebase and website, for which you can register for free.
