  • the Court of Session, based in Edinburgh: the highest Court in Scotland
  • 49 sheriff courts, grouped into 6 sheriffdoms: local courts that deal with criminal and civil business
  • justice of the peace courts: local courts that deal with lower-level cases

The statistics relate to company law petitions, debt, repossession, family and personal injury.  They also include the amount of civil legal aid spending in the sheriff courts. Comparisons can be made across the 6 Scottish sheriffdoms and trends observed.
