Census 1981 Small Area Statistics for England, Wales and Scotland

Access information:Single user CD-ROM workstation, Main Library.
Description:CD-ROM version of the complete 1981 Census Small Area Statistics (SAS) for all enumeration districts (Eds), wards, districts, counties and countries in Great Britain, and also the mid-1987 population estimates. Accompanying the database are boundary maps in vector format for electoral wards in England and Wales and postcode sectors in Scotland and centroid values for Eds. Data is displayed in maps, charts and tables.

Census Dissemination Unit

The Census Dissemination Unit has now been dissolved. The data formally obtained from it can be found via the Census Support Unit of the UK Data Service.

CIDER (Centre for Interaction Data Estimation and Research: Census Data Support Unit)

Access information:Available on and off-campus from WICID (the Web-based Interface to Census Interaction Data). Choose Login via UK Federation. Registration is required. Follow the registration link for details.
Description:Formerly known as CIDS. Provides access to and supports interaction data sets produced from UK Censuses of Population for 1981, 1991 and 2001. Census interaction data are data that relate to flows of people between places. Whereas most Census data relate to counts of people at specific locations, interaction data describe interactions between origins and destinations.

Census: Samples of Anonymised Records

Access information:Available on and off-campus from Cathie Marsh Centre for Census and Survey Research (CCSR). Choose Login via UK Federation. Also requires separate registration with the Census Registration Service follow the 'Access and Registration' link for details.
Description:Samples of anonymised records from the UK Census of Population for both the 1991 and 2001 Censuses.

CHCC Historical Censuses Collection

Access information:Available on and off-campus from CHCC. Registration is required.
Description:The service provides access and support for a range of historical datasets, promoting and facilitating increased and more effective use of data in research, learning and teaching.

OECD iLibrary

Access information:Access on-campus. Access off-campus currently via VPN only.
Description: The iLibrary provides access to a substantial amount of free content, including the OECD Factbook, OECD Working Papers, Key Tables, Multilingual Summaries and most 'At a Glance' publications.
Subscription data resources include time series titles covering energy, banking, health, education, trade, investment and insurance, patents and productivity, regional statistics, science and technology, tax, telecommunications and internet. *Not all content is subscribed to.*

UKBORDERS

UK Data Service (UKDS)

Incorporates data and services formerly provided by the Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS).

Access information:Available on and off-campus. Choose Login via UK federation. Also requires separate registration with UK Data Service
Description:The UK Data Service is a comprehensive resource funded by the ESRC and delivered by the UK Data Service to support researchers, teachers and policymakers who depend on high-quality social and economic data.
