British Library General Catalogue of Printed Books to 1975

Access information:Single user CD-ROM workstation, Main Library.
Description:A catalogue of 5.7 million records including the largest collection of pre-1914 imprints in the world. Contains all entries for pre-1975 imprints acquired and catalogued by the British Library prior to 1976 and all pre-1971 imprints acquired and catalogued before the end of 1982.

English Short Title Catalogue

Access information:On campus access via FirstSearch.
Description:ESTC lists over 460,000 items published between 1473 and 1800 mainly, but not exclusively, in English that were published mainly in the British Isles and North America from the collections of the British Library and over 2,000 other libraries.

EThOS - Electronic Theses Online Service

Access information:Access on and off-campus. Registration required for full-text access and there may be a delay of some days in receiving required copy.
Description:British Library service providing full text of thousands of UK Higher Education theses (free to staff and students of the University of Edinburgh).

JSTOR

Access information:Access on and off-campus.
Description:Full-text journal archive service providing access to complete back runs of all the scholarly journals currently available in JSTOR. Recent volumes are excluded, usually the last 3-5 years, but each year a further year is added to the archive.
Each title is listed in the Library catalogue.
The collections currently available are: Arts & Sciences 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 11, 12; Biological Sciences; Health & General Sciences; Ireland. The 19th Century British Pamphlets Collections is also available via JSTOR.

Description: Provides access to the British Library’s Electronic Table of Contents of approximately 20,000 current journals and 16,000 conference proceedings published per year. The database covers all subjects and is updated daily. Table of Contents alerts are available.
