Description:Part of Web of Science Core Collection. A multidisciplinary index containing details of every substantive item in 1,200 arts and humanities journals, as well as references to books included in book reviews, and live performances, films, records, and television and radio broadcasts. Contains over 2 million references.

Casalini E-Books Collection

Description:The Casalini full text platform (Torrossa) provides access to a selection of 1,867 scholarly e-books from Italian and Spanish academic publishers since 2000 for University of Edinburgh users. The collection consists of 1,188 titles on Italian studies and Italian literature and 679 titles on Spanish studies. The books are in Italian or Spanish and can be either downloaded or viewed online in PDF format (it is necessary to disable pop-up blocks on your web browser and also in your Google tool bar if applicable). The e-book collection is fully searchable, including by words in the full text.

Chicano Database

Description:Identifies all types of material on Mexican-American topics and about Chicanos. Produced by the University of California at Berkeley and updated quarterly. records added since 1992 have expanded the scope to include the broader Latino experience, including Puerto Ricans, Cuban Americans, and Central American immigrants. Also includes the Spanish Speaking Mental Health Database, covering psychological, sociological, and educational literature.

Early European Books Online

Description:Early European Books traces the history of printing in Europe from its origins through to the close of the seventeenth century, offering full-colour, high-resolution facsimile images of rare and hard-to-access printed sources.

Eighteenth Century Collections Online

Description:Contains 150,000 books published during the 18th Century, covering a range of subjects including history, literature, religion, law, fine arts, and science. The full text of the collection is searchable, from books and directories, Bibles, sheet music and sermons to advertisements.

Eighteenth Century Journals

Description:The Eighteenth Century Journals portal consists of five Sections, containing digitised images of about 270 rare journals printed between c1685 and 1835. Topics cover a very wide range of eighteenth-century social, political and literary life, including: colonial life; provincial and rural affairs; the French and American revolutions; reviews of literature and fashion throughout Europe; political debates; and London coffee house gossip and discussion, etc. Many of these journal are ephemeral, lasting only for a handful of issues, others run for several years. The publisher suggests that all of the titles in this portal have been carefully screened against other eighteenth century e-resources to ensure that there is minimal overlap. Resources checked include Early English Books Online (EEBO); Nineteenth Century British Library Newspapers, Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO), The Burney Newspaper Collection, and British Periodicals (1680s to 1930s), all of which are in our Database list.

Description:This scholarly research project of the University of Oxford Humanities Division provides online access to correspondence between 18th-century thinkers and writers, from over 53,000 primary sources.

Encyclopedia of Language and Linguistics

Description:2005, second edition covers comprehensively the fundamental linguistic disciplines, with their applications to the study of language and other related disciplines. The online version supplements the written text with additional illustrative material, samples of spoken language or signed langague and videos of the use of language in context.

Description:European Sources Online (ESO) is an online database and information service which provides access to information on the institutions and activities of the European Union, the countries, regions and other international organisations of Europe, and on issues of importance to European researchers, citizens and stakeholders.

Europeana

Access information:Access on and off campus.
Description:Funded by the European Commission, the Europeana portal provides access to millions of digitised books, paintings, films, museum objects and archival records from all over Europe. Use Europeana to explore major European collections including collections from Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the British Library and the Louvre as well as regional archives and local museums from every member of the EU.

FRANCIS

Description:Covers a wide range of multilingual, multidisciplinary information in the humanities, social sciences, and economics. FRANCIS is strong in religion, the history of art, and literature, with particular emphasis on current trends in European and world literature. Produced by the Institut de l'Information Scientifique et Technique du Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique and the Getty Information Institute; updated monthly.
Coverage:1984 to date.

Handbook of Latin American Studies

Access information: Free access from HLAS Online.
Description: A selective annotated bibliography of scholarly monographs, journal articles, conference papers, book chapters, and electronic resources dealing with Latin America.
The multidisciplinary Handbook, edited by the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress, alternates annually between the social sciences and the humanities.
Disciplines covered include anthropology (including archaeology and ethnology), art, economics, electronic resources (beginning in 1995), geography, government and politics, history, international relations, literature, music, philosophy, and sociology.
Three language versions are available: English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Coverage:Continuously published since 1936.

JSTOR

Description:Full-text journal archive service providing access to complete back runs of all the scholarly journals currently available in JSTOR. Recent volumes are excluded, usually the last 3-5 years, but each year a further year is added to the archive.
Each title is listed in the Library catalogue.
The collections currently available are: Arts & Sciences 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 11, 12; Biological Sciences; Health & General Sciences; Ireland. The 19th Century British Pamphlets Collections is also available via JSTOR.

Literature Online (LION)

Description:The Literature Online English Corpus provides access to the Annual bibliography of English Language and Literature from 1920 to 1997 and also includes full-text of selected articles from 200 literary journals, over 160,000 works of English poetry since 600, more than 3,900 works of English drama from 1280 to 1915, 300 works of English prose from 1500 to 1900, and links to relevant Web resources.

MLA International Bibliography

Description:Citations to critical documents on literature, language, linguistics and folklore from over 3,000 journals and series published worldwide. Also covers monographs, reference works and collections, including working papers, conference papers and proceedings.
